HX Stomp Princeton + 4 Custom 1966 Princeton IRs
HX Stomp Princeton + 4 Custom 1966 Princeton IRs
New for Helix firmware 3.0, classic Princeton Reverb tones! This download is a zip file that comes with four custom IRs I made of a 1966 10” Blackface Princeton cab, and 3 presets:
One “amp” preset meant for single coils (with several effects and other blocks)
One “amp” preset meant for humbuckers (with several effects and other blocks)
One preset with 8 additional effects from the full Helix preset which you can copy and paste into the single coil and humbucker presets.
Both “amp” presets are intended to be run stereo and have a huge stereo image, but can be easily converted to mono by deleting the delay and IR blocks on path 2. The presets use IRs A and B by default but feel free to mix and match with the other two IRs included with this download. You’ll need to unzip the zip file, and update BOTH your Helix AND HX Edit to at least firmware 3.0 before importing the files, otherwise you will get an error when importing.
Important note: I have begun running my HXS input at LINE LEVEL, even when plugging my guitar directly into it. This is similar to enabling the “Input Pad” global setting on the full Helix. At instrument level on the HXS, the amps and drives get hit way too hard, so everything is much more usable when the input is set to line level. I recommend changing this global setting ASAP. It shouldn’t affect my other presets too much, they will just be slightly cleaner. If you need to adjust input levels, use the compressor’s level parameter.
Stomps:
Amp drive up/down
Reverb mix+decay up/down
unused
Post-amp clean boost
Prince of Tone on/off
Important note for users running mono: If you run mono, or your signal will be mono at any time (i.e. hard panned in a recording or live stream), definitely bypass or delete the delay (and optionally the IR) on path 2 in order to avoid phase cancellation when the stereo image is summed to mono.
