FM9 - Morgan AC20 - Edge of Breakup

FM9 - Morgan AC20 - Edge of Breakup

$12.99

Firmware 6.0 required. This is my favorite “AC-style” amp on the Fractal because of its smooth high end and tight low end. This preset has two slightly different models of the AC20 in stereo, along with several drives, delays, reverbs, chorus, vibrato, tremolo, and a stereo widener.

Scenes:

  1. Bright Single Coils i.e. vintage strat/tele pickups

  2. Dark Single Coils i.e. modern single coils e.g. Lollar Special T, Pioneer Longhorn

  3. P90s / Filtertrons

  4. Humbuckers

  5. unused

  6. unused

  7. unused

  8. Ambient Pad (for volume swells)

The scenes have Scene Controller 1 assigned to various parameters on the preset. When I’m building a preset for a song I’ll set the scene controller value for the particular pickup I’m using to all the scenes (using the “Set All” function in the editor > Controllers > Scene Ctrl 1+2). Then I’ll use the per preset footswitches to set up each scene i.e. Intro, verse, chorus, lead, pad, etc.

Per preset footswitches:

  1. Drive 1 channel select (A-C have increasing amounts of gain)

    1. These 3 channels are my stage 1 drive sounds

  2. Drive 1 on/off

  3. Drive 2 on/off

    1. Hold to cycle channels A-C. A is a Klon, B is a RAT, C is a Fuzz Face

    2. Can be stacked or used standalone. I’ll usually stack the klon with Drive 1 for leads, but I use the RAT and Fuzz Face standalone

  4. Delay 2 on/off (1/8th note)

    1. Hold to cycle channels A-C for increasing mix/feedback settings

    2. Set this to 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 as necessary

  5. Delay 2 on/off (Dotted 8th note)

    1. Hold to cycle channels A-C for increasing mix/feedback settings

    2. Set this to dotted quarter, dotted 8th, or dotted 16th as necessary

  6. Reverb channel decrement D-A

    1. HOLD to increment channels A-D. Channel A is a small plate, D is a big cloud

  7. Unused

  8. Post-amp clean boost (I usually only use this if the band is big but there’s a cleaner lead part because I’ve built slight volume increases into the gain staging anyway)

  9. Chorus 1 on/off

    1. Hold to cycle between channels A-C. A is a mild chorus, B is a deeper/wetter chorus, C is a vibrato

  10. Tremolo 1 on/off

    1. Hold to toggle channels A/B for different speeds & levels of intensity

  11. Plex Verb on/off

    1. This is the “worship reverb” sound, I use it for clean parts and volume swells

  12. Pitch 1 on/off

    1. Hold to cycle through channels A-C. A is octave up, B is whammy, and C is virtual capo for real-time Eb or D standard tuning for example.

Setup Notes:

I highly recommend using my layouts with my FM9 presets as they will make things easier to navigate.

The input is set to Input 1, the output is set to output 1.

Please use the PER PRESET footswitch layout to access all the per preset footswitch assignments.

This preset is configured to work with the Fractal FC12 controller, but all the important gain staging will be present on the FC6 as well.

Mono users: This preset has a massive stereo image but is mono-compatible, just bypass the Enhancer block. In order to get the sound of both amps to FOH, in your global settings navigate to I/O > Audio Tab > “Output 1 Configuration” > Mode, and set it to “SUM L+R”.
